In honor of the 250th anniversary of American Independence on July 4, 2026, NEH is issuing a call for proposals for Celebrate America!, a new initiative of Chairman’s grants. The program will award 250 challenge grant awards of up to $25,000 each for humanities projects that focus on the founding of the American nation, key historical figures, and milestones that reflect the exceptional achievements of the United States. Funded activities include: speaker and discussion series; family reading programs; community events; exhibits; conferences and symposia; research and creation of educational resources. Rolling deadline open now; one-year grant period. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, institutions of higher education, and local, state and tribal governments.
